Obituary of Herbert J. Sarver

Herbert J. Sarver, Sr. 94, of Moneta passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Hezzie and Mattie Hale Sarver;  wives, Willie Irene Sarver, and Martha Oliver Sarver; sisters, Patricia Peters, Helen Helms, Joanne Stickley, Estaleen Sarver, and Oreta Stevens; and brothers, Paul and Cecil Sarver; and a step son, Robert Braley.

Mr. Sarver proudly served his country in the U S Air Force during the Korean War and retired from Varney Electric.

Surviving are his children, Andrea Wolfe (Mike), Melissa Witt (Glen), Herbert Sarver, II (Debbie), and William D. Sarver (Sarah Underwood); numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren; sister, Linda Lovell (Tommy); brothers, Wayne Sarver (Barbara), Ray Sarver (Joyce); step children, Ann and Arthur Crawford, K.W. and Sharon Barton, James Braley, and Raymond Starr; numerous nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the staff at the V A Medical Center for their devoted care during Mr. Sarver's illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Flint Hill Baptist Church

Funeral services will be conducted Noon Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.   Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends on Friday, August 4, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home.
