Obituary of Ricky Dean Watkins

Ricky Dean Watkins, 71, of Hardy, VA, ran through the gates of Heaven to his new garage on July 23, 2023. He was a hard-working, caring man, known for his loving nature and sense of humor.  Rick was a self-taught mechanic, possessing an exceptional talent that exceeded what this world deserved.

Rick is survived by his wife and love of his life, Vickie, as well as his loyal sidekick, Shorty. He also leaves behind his son Ricky (Felicia) and Kevin (Jamie), daughters Bailee (Ron), Rhonda (Otto), Dannille, and Lisa (Barry), and a very special grandson, Jake. Rick was proud of his large family, which included a ridiculous amount of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, totaling 14. He is also survived by his brother Randy (Maudie), sisters Brenda and Bubbles, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In his free time, he enjoyed fixing things and utilizing his redneck ingenuity. He had a passion for fishing, drag racing, and anything with a motor. Rick was a fan of Nascar (Dale #3) and old westerns. He even had a knack for composing his own songs, which oftentimes included a touch of dark humor at your expense. 

A celebration to honor Rick's life will be held privately by the family. It's not goodbye, it's see you later, to our beloved husband, father, poppy, brother and friend to so many.
