Obituary of Shirley Bowling Carroll

Shirley Bowling Carroll, 90, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord Monday, July 3, 2023.  She was preceded by her parents, Andrew "Bud" and Etta Daniels Bowling; husband, Richard Arthur Carroll; daughter, Patricia Ann Venus; brothers, Jesse and Wallace Bowling; and a sister Inez Sowers.

Mrs. Carroll retired from General Electric in Salem and was a member of Oakland Baptist Church.

Surviving is her daughter, Bobbi Halsey (Mike); granddaughter, Toni Hylton; grandsons, Ricky Weeks (Nikki) Dudding, and Michael Halsey great grandchildren, Matthew Hylton (Hannah), Joshua Hylton (Emily), Nathan Weeks (Jessica), and Camden Dudding; sisters, Evelyn Johnson and Lee McCormick; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the Alzheimers Association. 

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Pastor Scott Hamilton.  Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
