Matthew Todd Clements, 39, of Roanoke passed away Friday, December 23, 2011 at his home. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles Houston and Joan McCarty Clements. Surviving are his beloved pet, Whitey, parents, Samuel H. and Sheila Manspile Clements; sister and brother-in-law, Shannon and Todd Lancaster; nephews, Nick and Blake Lancaster; grandparents, William A. and Shirley Manspile; aunts and uncles, Vicki and Jay Kreider, Bill Manspile, Carol Allman; Belinda and Lanny West; and many cousins and close friends. Todd served in the U. S. Coast Guard, graduated from Roanoke College, and served in the Merchant Marines. At the time of his death he was persuing his Masters Degree in International Transportation Management at Suny Maritime Academy in Throggsneck, New York. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Disabled American Veterans 2381 Roanoke Boulevard Salem, Va. 24153. A graveside service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens by the Rev. James Lee Bennington. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. 366-0707
