Roger's life was grounded in his and Linda's remarkable love story. They had a long, loving marriage and a closeknit family. Their children are mature, respectful people that were with him throughout his illness. Roger was fortunate to know his grandchildren. He earned the admiration of his colleagues and had legions of lifelong friends. On my visits over a period of 50 plus years he always made me feel welcome. Roger will be sorely missed by us all.

Linda - We are thinking of you and your family. Roger provided Warren with memories aplenty during our time together at Hollins (way back when), and his obituary captures his spirit and zest for life. Gale let us know. Sending warm wishes to you. Laura

Dear Linda and family,
The picture you selected of Roger is the way we remember him - that unassuming smile and the quiet pleasure his life it expressed.
We have known Roger since his UVA days and were so proud, as a family, to claim the mounted Cavalier. They were exciting times, and they continued as Roger played polo all over the world. We were all so excited to know that you and Roger were in London for the marriage of Prince Charles to Diana. Your experiences were beyond what most people could even imagine, but we lived through Featie's stories of that memorable time.
Cattle, horses, property acquisitions, farming, hauling cattle, managing huge parcels of land out
west, and succeeding at it all is manageable to few.
Roger did it. He also reveled in his family and showed devotion to each of you. We were there the day that Linda and Roger married and celebrated with the entire family on that beautiful and well planned day.
We are thankful to have known Roger and to call him a family member. The Cropp memories of times spent in Roanoke are vivid, personal, and wonderful. It was a thread that meant a great deal to each of us.
We pause now to grieve for your loss, knowing that no matter how long you prepare for loss, it stings and changes everything. Farewell, Roger. You fought the good fight and showed your family and friends great valor and courage in the fight.
With much love and understanding,
Martha and John Gibbs

Roger was always gracious, pleasant, and gentlemanly in his interaction with others. I admired his equestrian talents and his business successes. Linda and the children are in my thoughts and prayers. May god comfort them in their loss.
