Obituary of Sissy Faulkner
Carolyn “Sissy” Faulkner, 71, passed away on June 11th after a challenging struggle with lung carcinoma. Sissy was born on November 2nd, 1951, to William E. James and Geraldine Payne James in Roanoke, Virginia.
Sissy worked in different fields until she found her calling at Lewis Gale Clinic as a Medical Office Specialist. Sissy absolutely loved working with the patients, talking with them and trying to make their day a little brighter as they made her day a little brighter. After 21 years of service, she retired in 2018, often mentioning missing working with her patients.
In 1980, Sissy married Ronald “Fuzz” Faulkner and they spent 32 wonderful years together camping, tubing down Craigs Creek, dancing and dart playing before he passed in 2012. Sissy was known for her love of palm trees, card and dice games, Marilyn Monroe memorabilia and butterflies. She was generous, giving, loving, and after retirement, developed a passion for politics and economics that led her to learn as much as she could from all resources. She leaves behind so many to cherish her memory…family, great friends, and neighbors.
Sissy is predeceased by her parents as well as her brother, Sammy James; her nephew, Robbie James; and her nephew, Hank James. She is survived by her sister, Nina James Houseman; her brothers, Michael James and Jesse James; her son, Timothy Greer; her three grandchildren, Alison Greer Griffith, Jonathon Greer, Givea Greer; as well as her nieces, Randi James and Haley James.
