Wayne G. Reilly, 88, of Roanoke, Virginia and Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, died on May 29, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents William Francis Reilly and Evelyn Ziegler Reilly Glynn and by his sister Norma Reilly Perkins.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Pamela Clark Reilly and two sons, Stephen (Lucy Wall) of Lexington, Massachusetts and Peter (Vicki) of West Chester, Pennsylvania. In addition he is survived by four grandchildren, Gregory, Katherine, Sarah and Anne.

He was born in Redford, Michigan on February 24, 1935 and grew up in Floral Park, New York on Long Island.  He graduated from Sewanhaka High School in Floral Park and then from Middlebury College in Vermont.  He earned his MA at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut and his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania.  He proudly served as an infantry officer in the United States Army. He taught political science for one year at Washington and Lee in Lexington, Virginia and for 33 years at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia.

Family was of greatest importance to Wayne.  He was a wonderful husband and an inspiring role model as a father.  The time he spent with his family each summer on Lake Wentworth in New Hampshire was a highlight for him.  He was an avid reader and enjoyed many sports both as a participant and a spectator. After the children were grown, Wayne and Pam enjoyed traveling both in this country and abroad.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018 or to RAM House, 624 Campbell Avenue, Roanoke, VA 24016.
