Gina was not only my cousin but like a sister! All my most special childhood memories have her in them. I was in complete shock to learn of her passing. I feel like a piece of me passed that day. We spent so much time together particularly as young children. Our families were always together. As young girls we would talk about the the women we wanted to become. We were roommates in college and Gina was unsure of what to major in. I told her that there was a dance major, she jumped on it. Little did I know, what she would do with this opportunity. I am so proud of all the advocacy work she did. She has touched and fought for so many. Gina was a force of nature she loved big and her passion was infectious. When she introduced me to her new boyfriend, I couldn’t believe it was friend of mine from college. Eric is a true sweetheart, I am so happy she choose this loving man as her partner and father to Gino. She was an amazing daughter, mother, wife, sister, cousin, niece, and friend. I am still in disbelief that I can’t talk with you anymore to share life’s ups and downs. Eric and Gino please know we are here for you as you begin your new life path. She is in a beautiful place and it comforts me to know that we have a loving Angel to watch over us. Even though my heart is broken, I know that one of the parts that will help me heal is the part that belongs to Gina.

In memory of our niece Gina.
How does one describe our beautifully
niece Gina? She was like a daughter and sister to her cousins Suzi and Anton. We spent a lot of time together through the years. We watched Gina grow up doing all her activities. Her ambition was there no matter what she put her mind to she accomplished it full heartedly. She was a very happy soul. We have stayed in touch and made sure to see each other when she was in town. We shared a lot of laughter and caught up when we got together. We remember when she introduced us to Eric for the first time, we were so happy for them. When she got pregnant with Gino she was so happy that she was going to become a mom. She loved Eric and Gino very much along with her family and friends. We loved Gina so very much, even though her life was cut short the memory of her will be with us forever. Eric and Gino we are here for you!

I met Gina when I started my MFA program at Hollins/ADF in 2011 and then worked more closely with her the following year while completing my thesis. She was patient, kind, and encouraging and helped me realize that having Michael Wall perform the music live for the piece would be especially powerful. I so appreciated her mentorship and wisdom during this time. I was invited back to Hollins a few years later and reconnected with her and met her beautiful son Gino. Thank you Gina for your kind and caring spirit and I am so glad I knew you.

I am so very sorry to hear of Gina’s sudden passing. I have such clear pictures—videos really—of her dancing at Kent State University and especially her beautiful solo Junior year. Since then, it was so delightful to see her growth and development both in her career and her personal life. Prayers for your family to find your path through the emptiness and loss of Gina.
Gina was a wonderful person and proud mom. Marcella said Aunt Gina taught her how to do cartwheels. We cherish the memories at the cottage together especially the kids dance choreography and her tossing the kids in the lake. Gina was an awesome Aunt who cared deeply for her nieces and nephews.
