Obituary of Gene Larry Snyder

Gene Larry Snyder, 84, husband of Carolyn Davis Snyder, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at his
home with his family by his side. He was the son of the late Charles A. Snyder, Jr., and the late Margaret
George Snyder.


Gene was an aerospace design engineer who was proud to have connectors on U.S. space shuttles and
military vessels. He was also an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting.


Gene is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Carolyn, he will be missed and remembered by his sons,
Douglas Ray Snyder (Rose) and Donald Jay Snyder (Sharon); grandchildren, Nicholas Snyder (Maureen),
Jacob Snyder (Melissa), Parker Snyder, Emma Snyder Hicks (Randy), Abigail Snyder (Michael Foley), Chace
Snyder; great-granddaughters, Ruthie Jean Snyder and Aria Kathleen Foley; as well as close friends, Jean
and Larry Blackman, Harold and Eileen Hanson, Paul and Loretta Summerville, Richard and Joyce Vining,
Cy and Sylvia Sherwood, Lee Mallory, Jane Turner and many more.


Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the members of the Carilion Hospice team who
took amazing care of our Poppy in his final days.


There will be a gathering of family and friends from 4 pm to 6 pm on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Simpson
Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s
Hospital, the Special Olympics or The Wounded Warrior Project.
