Obituary of Geraldine Brotemarkle Nelson

Born on December 18,1944, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 10, 2023.

Geri spent her life dedicated to her family. Her greatest joy was taking care of children and she found her greatest comfort in her love for Christ. She loved cooking delicious bread and spaghetti for her family and friends. She also loved to crochet, knit and quilt to make treasured pieces for her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Lee Brotemarkle; mother, Sarah Bair Brotemarkle Book; stepfather, Glenn “Pap Pap” Book; daughter, Sarah Feazelle; son, Martin “Marty” Nelson; granddaughter, Laura Lee; and brothers, James Brotemarkle, Robert Brotemarkle and Carl “Dewey” Brotemarkle.

She was survived by the father of her five children, Martin Edward Nelson; daughters, Susan Nelson Lee, Mary Elizabeth Nelson-Jones, and Nina Kathleen Nelson; sisters, Una Jean “Sue” Blake and Sally Skies and Linda Turlington; brother, Raymond Book, numerous, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Road Chapel. Interment will follow services at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time.
