Obituary of Carol Jean LaPradd

Carol Jean LaPradd, 83, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 7, 2023. She was preceded in death by her children, Ricky LaPradd Sr. and Kathy LaPradd Small; parents, William and Dorothy Jarrett; and sisters, Jackie Dilllon and Nellie Arrington.

She is survived by daughters, Fay Clark (Ken Craven) and Mary King (Doug); grandchildren, Ricky  LaPradd Jr. (Melissa), Felicia Watson, Chris LaPradd (Allison), Mark LaPradd, Josh LaPradd (Valerie), John Hutchinson (Kassi), Carol Hobbs (Travis), Justin Hobbs (Stacey), Kyle Clark (Anna), Mitchell Clark (Hannah), Matt King (Charity), Ryan King (Emily), Savanah King (Walker), and Abigail LaPradd; many great grandchildren; sisters, Bennie Fralin (Billy) and Dianne Byrd; and special friends, (the Golden Girls): Mary, Jean, Pat, and Suzette.

Carol was a devoted Christian woman, who worked countless hours, to lovingly provide for her children, as a single parent. She laughed loud, loved hard, and adored her kids and grandkids. She was a proud member of the Edinburgh Square community where she served proudly as president for three years.  

Thank you Memaw for loving us all fiercely. Thank you for your hugs and encouragement. Thank you for keeping conversations interesting and never ceasing to be a genuine you. Our lives will be a little emptier without you here. We will miss you and hold your memories dear for the rest of our lives. Until we meet again. We love you.

The family will have a Visitation on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 from 6:00-8:00pm and Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 10:00-11:00am at Simpson Funeral Home (Peters Creek). The Chapel Service will follow on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 11:00am, also at Simpson’s, and then process to Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive guests afterwards at Glenvar Baptist Church, 4804 Stanley Farm Road, Salem, VA 24153, where she was a faithful member.
