Obituary of Jean Old Trent

Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jean O. Trent passed from this life Monday, April 17, 2023. Awaiting her is her husband, Warren E. Trent, son, Alan G. Trent, her sisters Elinore Old & Pauline “Old” Beckner & nephews Stephan, David & Tony Beckner.  She will be missed by her granddaughters, Christiana “Christi” Noel Emery & Angelique “Nicole” Trent-McGranaghan, Daughter-in-Law, Patricia “Pat” H. Trent, nephew Gary Harper, niece Sheila Beckner & Nephew John Beckner.

Jean was born in Salem, VA to Frank & Flossie Old on April 27, 1929 & was one of three daughters.  She would marry Warren Trent on May 22, 1941. Together, they raised a son, Alan, and live in Roanoke, VA until she was called Home.

Jean was a member of North Roanoke Baptist Church where she sang with The Singing Saints, helped host pot- lucks, and attended Bible Study. There, she would meet her future daughter-in-law, Pat, who would, in time, help bring her two granddaughters into her life.

Her proudest moment was when Alan became an Ordained Minister.

Jean (and Warren) loved to travel. From cruises, to road trips to family vacations spent at Myrtle Beach, when family & friends were along, life was infinitely better.

While no longer here in the flesh, she lingers still in the hearts of all who knew & loved her.

Services to celebrate and honor her life wil be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 29, 2023 in the Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, with Rev. Daniel Palmer officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
