Obituary of Nancy Linsky Lamb
Nancy Linsky Lamb, 81, of Roanoke, VA, formerly of McDowell, VA, and Savannah, GA, passed away from this life and entered into eternal heaven on Monday, March 27, 2023, following a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack R. Lamb, and her youngest beloved son, Kelly Warren Prewitt; her parents, Elizabeth and John Linsky; sisters Arlene Linsky Lyons (Dennis) of New York; Mary Jane Adkins (Charles) of Daniels, WV; Jo Ann Griffith (Wade) of Lewisburg, WV; Elvira Faw (Charles) of Beckley, WV; her eldest sister, Elizabeth Barnhill, and her only brother, Jack Linsky MacArthur, WV. She is survived by her loving children, Kevin K. Prewitt of Covington, VA, and Kimberly Anne Prewitt of Roanoke, VA; sisters Janet Hodges (Larry), and Helen Riffe, both of Daniels, WV; Margaret Kosco, of Brookfield, WI; and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Nancy was born and grew up in Cranberry, WV. She was the seventh of ten children. She worked in banking for a number of years and served as an officer of The State Bank of the Alleghanies in Covington, VA, where she met and later married her second husband, Jack R. Lamb. Together, they shared a life full of travel, great times and lots of laughter. Nancy and Jack, along with their pampered kitty, “Puddin,” retired to Savannah, GA in the 1990’s where they made many new friends and enjoyed traveling, bowling, playing golf, and entertaining at their lovely home on Skidaway Island.
Nancy was a talented stained-glass artist, an accomplished bowler, and superb cook. She enjoyed spending time with her children, family, friends, and of course, all of her “grandcats” Her children hold dear in their hearts all of the special times spent with their beloved mother and all the wonderful memories she made with each of them. A beautiful, kind and graceful lady, she was loved by all who met her.
In keeping with her wishes, she has been cremated. A private memorial service will be held by her children at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Nancy’s name to a local animal shelter. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Road Chapel. (540)366-0707
