Obituary of Sandra Marie Mann
Sandra Boitnott Mann, 74, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin “Ben” and Norma Gibson Boitnott. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Stella May Boitnott, and Sharon Foley and a brother, Earl Boitnott.
She was a long-time employee of VFP in Roanoke. She was a hard worker who took great pride in her work. She started as a carpenter’s assistant and worked her way up to a production manager. She had a life-long love of all sports. She played softball and was in a darts league and a bowling league. Later in life she took up golf. Sandra had a passion for helping girls be involved in sports and was a Little League Coach for several years. She was a fan of the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Bulls, especially Michael Jordan, and the New York Yankees, and loved her Wahoos. She loved all types of music but none more than the Beatles and Barbara Striesand.
She will be missed and remembered by her daughter, Dee Rocha (John); grandchildren, Ashleigh, Tyler and Jessie; brother, Merle Boitnott (Joyce); sister, Brenda David (Terry); numerous nieces, nephews and other family members; dear friend, Becky DeWeese and her family who were all a special part of Sandra’s life.
There will be an informal gathering of family and friends at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road on Sunday, March 26, 2023 from 2 pm to 4 pm. Sandra’s favorite music will be playing and favorite memories will be shared.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Roanoke County Rescue Squad, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Animal Rescue of your choice.
