Obituary of Ryan Alexander Martin

Please share a memory of Ryan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Ryan Alexander Martin, 17, of Moneta went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 7th, 2023.

Ryan was born on June 7th 2005 in Roanoke, Virginia at Carillion Roanoke Community Hospital to Anthony “Tony” and Tiffany Martin. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior when he was four years old and was baptized at the age of six at Shenandoah Baptist Church in Roanoke, Virginia. When he went to youth week in 2018 through East Lake Community Church under Pastor Troy’s preaching, he professed to meeting Jesus there and giving his heart to the Lord.

Ryan was brilliant. He was like his father and believed the world was his chemistry lab. He took his time researching and learning about anything that interested him. He was intellectually curious and always wanted to find the correct answer. He was eager for knowledge. He was our “Mr. Fix-It” when it came to anything electronic. He loved to chat for hours about everything he knew and had learned. He loved telling stories, giving you as many details as he could. He went to RVCS in preschool, Kindergarten and some of the 1st grade and was then homeschooled. He had currently been a senior in home school. He wasn’t sure what he would pursue as a career but was so good with technology and understood so much about the human body and medicine.

Ryan was a compassionate soul who took pride in the ones he loved; he acquired that trait from his mother. He loved traveling with his Mawmaw Kitty and planned to travel the country with her in the upcoming years. He had a close bond with his siblings and cousins, and even found a “best friend” in his cousin Nathaniel. He enjoyed listening to music, watching YouTube shorts, watching TV/movies and listening to true stories. He was also a fan of Coca Cola products and loved his fast food. When Ryan was excited or passionate about something, it would be accompanied by his “happy dance” with a little “cha cha cha”. He was so special and made such a  HUGE impact on everyone who really knew him. He was unknowingly funny. He would have loved ones around him laughing at his jokes and his unique sense of humor.

Ryan had high functioning autism. As a teenager, he struggled more with his Autism but he was never ashamed of it, he saw the world so differently. He suffered with intense anxiety and depression but was so brave through it all. We were so blessed to have had him as long as we did, he will forever be loved and missed.

Ryan is survived by his loving parents, Anthony “Tony” and Tiffany Martin; his siblings, Dylan Vass, Ian and Arianna Martin;  grandparents, Katherine “Kitty” Shaner “Maw Maw”, Wayne “Poppy”  and Teresa “Grandma” Martin; many aunts and uncles, Crystal Larcom, Chivonne Collins, David and Angela Bevins, Everett and Sara Martin, Dustin Martin, Eli and Liz Martin; cousins, Nathaniel Fisher, Kayleigh Collins, Shane, Lilly and Grace Bevins, Noah Martin, Liam Martin; and numerous other family members.
