Obituary of Hilda F. Thurston

Hilda Francis Stinnett Thurston, 88, widow of John Thurston, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 9, 2023. She was born in Buena Vista and was the daughter of the late Russell and Banner Stinnett. She was also preceded in death by a son, Cyril Edwards; two great-grandsons, Wyatt Williams and Denver Edwards; two brothers, Maynard and Lewis Stinnett.

She will be missed and remembered by her children, Cynthia (Mark) Ferris, Sonya (Frank) Leigh, Kay (Gary) Mundy, Robin (Ronnie) Staton, Lisa (Rick) Pugh; sisters, Doris Mason and Phyllis Painter; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, February 13, 2023 in the Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, with Pastor Dean Staton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
