Obituary of Ruby Mae Simms

Ruby Mae Simms, 88, of Roanoke, VA, formerly of Rainelle, WV passed away peacefully on Friday, February 10, 2023 at her daughters home after a short illness. God’s hand mercifully protected her from any pain. She had no fear and was ready to join God and reunite with her loved ones.

Born on May 17, 1934 in Itmann, WV, she was a daughter of the late Harrison and Anna Adams. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Mont, a brother, Harold Adams and a sister, Ruth Burns.

Ruby was a long- time member of First Baptist Church in Rainelle, WV and was attending Vinton Baptist Church in Vinton, VA. She was employed at G.C. Murphy and H & R Block for many years.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Igo (Mike) of Goodview, VA; granddaughter, Brianna Harrison (Jarrett Davis) of Copper Hill, VA; great-grandson, Chance Harrison (Paige), serving with the USAF in Rapid City, SD; great-great-foster granddaughter, August, whom she loved to FaceTime.

Ruby is also survived by her sisters, Violet Baldwin of Ghent, WV, Marie Crowder of Roanoke, VA, as well as her many loved and adored nieces and nephews.

At her request there will be a graveside service held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity, WV with Pastor David Bush officiating.
