Obituary of David Lynwood Keys
David Lynwood Keys, 78, of Salem, Virginia, was welcomed into the presence of our great God and Savior on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.
David was blessed with a large, loving family. He was born to the late Kermit and Lucy Keys on August 13, 1944. He is survived by six siblings: Eugene Keys (Vivian), Marie Kidd, Allen Keys (Penny), Larry Keys (Kathey), Ann Arrington (Howard), and Faye Schroer (Joe). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
David married Frances, the love of his life, on May 16, 1970. They have two daughters: Kim Crowder (Joe) and Stacy Lam (Derek). He was “Pop” to seven grandchildren: Brendon Crowder (Nikki), Nathan Lam (Chloe), Roman Lam, Makynna Lam, Makalyn Lam, Levi Lam and Taylor Lam. This past year Pop became a great grandfather to Ellie Crowder.
David served four years in the United States Air Force and then went on to work thirty-seven years as a wireman at General Electric in Salem. He was a beloved family man, a dear friend, a devoted churchman, and a dedicated worker—all as a disciple of Christ Jesus the Lord. David led "a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way" (1 Timothy 2:2).
A service to worship God and remember David will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Citylight Church (1503 Maiden Lane SW, Roanoke, VA 24015). Visitation with the family will be beforehand from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
