Obituary of Homer Leroy Linton

Please share a memory of Homer to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Homer Leroy Linton, 89, husband of Patsy O’Conner Linton, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. He was the son of the late Abney Linton and the late Ruby Bostic Linton.

Homer was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and later retired as an Air Traffic Controller. After retirement he worked as a Motorist Assistant Aide with the Virginia State Police, helping people who experienced car trouble on the interstate. He made a lasting impact on these people and everyone he met through his kindness and helpful personality. He enjoyed hunting and being outdoors. He was a long-time deacon and usher at Green Ridge Presbyterian Church which later merged with Northminster Presbyterian Church and was always willing to serve in any way. His favorite thing to do was to be with and spoil “his girls”. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his wife of 70 years, Patsy, he will be missed and remembered by his daughters, Robin Linton Viohl (Wally) and Tracy Linton Harmon; granddaughters, Autumn Rae Viohl and Alexa “Lexi” Harmon; as well as several other loving family members.

A service to honor his life will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Northminster Presbyterian Church with Dr. Russ Merrit officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made to Northminster Presbyterian Church, 3911 Greenland Avenue, Roanoke, VA 24012.
