Wynona (Peanut) Metz, 89, of Roanoke died Friday, July 5, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garford R. Metz, Sr. Mrs. Metz retired from Kroger and was a member of Melrose Baptist Church. Surviving are her children, Robert Metz of Texas; Rudy Metz and wife Janet of Blue Ridge; Sherry Lewey and husband Jim of Roanoke; grandchildren, Robbie Metz and Todd Metz and wife Jeanne of Texas; Troy Metz and wife Lisa of Daleville; Hunter Metz of North Carolina; and Jason Lewey and wife Crystal of Roanoke; three great grandchildren, Austin and Alex Metz of Daleville and Rylan Lewey of Roanoke. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Springtree Health and Rehab Center for their caring and wonderful support. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013 in Sherwood Memorial Park by the Rev. Mrs. Helen C. Riley. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. 266-0707
