Obituary of Jimmy Odell Barnett

Jimmy Odell Barnett, 85, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord, Monday, January 16, 2023. Jimmy is survived by his wife Rita Barnett; children, Don Barnett and wife Suzanne, Julie Thomas and husband Bryon, and Amy Satterwhite and husband Tony; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Masters and husband Jeffrey, Marshall Wrenn and wife Stephanie, Marah Saville and husband Trevor, Tyler Semones and wife Savannah, Leah Thompson and Cody Henning, Logan Barnett, and Connor Thompson; great-grandchildren, Harleigh and Aspen Masters, and Hayden and Noah Wrenn; sisters, Virginia Pratt, and Peggy Short and husband Ennis; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hollins Road Baptist Church in Jimmy’s name. (3502 Old Mountain Road Roanoke, Virginia 24019).

The family would like to thank everyone at Amedisys Hospice for all the care that they gave Jimmy. 

Services will be held Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 11 am with Pastor Mark Washington and Pastor Troy Mays officiating. Interment will follow services at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from 6-8 pm at Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Road Chapel. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home. (540)366-0707.
