Obituary of Guy Alfred McClearn

Guy “Al” Alfred McClearn, 88, of Roanoke County, VA, passed away suddenly at home on December 15, 2022.

Al was born in Roanoke, VA to Guy Overton and Violet Lakes McClearn. He was a 1953 graduate of William Fleming High School. He attended Virginia Tech and attained his Master of Science Degree in school administration from Austin-Peay State University where he excelled in football and baseball. Al retired in 2000 from Roanoke County Schools with 43 years of service. Al will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years, Betsy; sons: Michael Alan, David Alfred and Mark Andrew McClearn; grandchildren: Andrew Jordan, Collin Alexander and Eva Grace McClearn; a very special brother-in-law, William Blizzard. Al was predeceased by his parents and his beloved stepmother, Ruby Mustain McClearn; half-brothers, Wayne Overton McClearn and Carlton Biscoe, Jr.

A celebration of Al's life will be held Noon Monday, January 9, 2022 at the Electric Road Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home 3912 Electric Road.  The family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 a.m.
