Obituary of Bernice Tierney Pickle

Bernice Tierney Pickle, 95, of Roanoke passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Harry Pickle, Jr.; and her six brothers and sisters.

Bernice was a member of West Salem Baptist Church and retired from General Electric in 1991.  She and her husband enjoyed traveling to the beach and spending time with those that he served with in the military.  Her greatest joy however, was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was to say the very least a devoted and loving grandmother.

Surviving is her daughter, Nancy Pickle Kessler (Mike); son, Douglas Harry Pickle; grandchildren, James "Jimmy" Kessler (Lauren), Ashley Kessler Leonard (Nic) , and Braden (Brady) Pickle; great grandchildren, Trebor Gibson, Allyson Kessler, Olivia Kessler, Johnathon Kessler, Lucas Kessler, and Madelyn Leonard; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to offer a very special thank you to Tammy with Good Samaritan Hospice for the loving care and kindness shown to Bernice during her illness.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Good Samaritan Hospice.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2022 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Chaplain Tamara Jaffe.  Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Road Chapel.
