Harold Wimmer

Obituary of Harold J. Wimmer

Please share a memory of Harold to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On Friday, December 2nd, Harold “Jack” Wimmer peacefully returned home to the Lord at the age of 88.

Jack was born in Lafayette, Virginia to Nell W. Wells. Jack graduated from High School and immediately enlisted into the U.S. Navy, as a Sea Bee.  After being honorably discharged, Jack married Yvonne Dell Peterson.  They shared 64 wonderful years together and three children (Nellie Catherine Wimmer, Harold Jackson Wimmer Jr., and David Donald Wimmer).

Jack’s life would be a bestselling biography filled with his adventures and achievements. He endured adversity, experienced prosperity, but regardless of the circumstance, his humor and wit were unwavering. His stories and “one liners” would entertain and captivate anyone. His achievements can be summed up as legendary. Everyone aspires to live their life, as he lived his. He was a man of principle, substance, and value. He didn’t pose questions, he provided answers. Jack’s many friendships span North America. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His counsel, acumen, and guidance are already sorely missed.

Jack is preceded in death by his mother (Nell W. Wells), wife (Yvonne D. Wimmer), and daughter (Cathy Wimmer). He is survived by his two sons (Bud and David), four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

The Family will have a Visitation on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 6 – 8pm at Simpson Funeral Home (Peters Creek). A private family service will be conducted, and a memorial service will be planned for a future date in accordance with his wishes.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Lafayette Cemetery Fund.  Arrangements by Simpsons Funeral Home.
