Obituary of Gladys Ann Parrish Hopkins

Gladys Parrish Hopkins, 70, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 19, 2022.  She was preceded by her parents, Robert Marvin and Edna Russell Parrish; and a brother, Marvin Parrish.

Gladys was a 1970 graduate of Jefferson High School.  She loved to decorate cakes and the joy that her creations brought people. She was employed in the bakery at Walmart at Valley View for 15 years.  She was a devoted and loving daughter and mother and was always there for her girls.  In spite of her love of family she also had a feisty side that occasionally reared its head.

Surviving is her husband of 53 years, Gary Leland Hopkins; daughters, Tracy (Jerry) Bohannon, and Priscilla (John King) Buck; and grandchildren, Devin Bohannon (Bethany), Brandon Bohannon (Alexis), and Aaliyah Wade.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.  Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Simpson Funeral Home.  (540) 366-0707.
