Obituary of Ramona Gail Kanode Porter

Ramona Gail Kanode Porter, age 86 of Boones Mill, passed away peacefully, Monday, September 12, 2022.

She is survived by her sons and their wives John and Jackie, Steve and Lori and daughter Ramona Porter Kern and beloved pets Baby, Daisy and Nipper.  Grandchildren Jacob and Leah, Jennifer and Dave, Kristina, Abigail and James Michael and April; great-grandchildren Oscar, Cadence, Liam, Olivia, Dakota, Kayleigh, Adalynn, Shane, Holly and Hannah; great-great granddaughter Zoe and sister in laws Shirley, Mickey, Jean and several nieces and nephews.

Ramona was preceded in death by her husband George J. Porter, parents John and Mary Kanode, brothers Kelly K. Kanode, Joseph C. Kanode.

Ramona graduated from Pulaski High School and attended Modeling school in Baltimore, MD where she met her loving husband George of 61 years.

Ramona worked alongside her husband and sons for many years in varying family businesses.

She retired in 1998 and spent her time enjoying her family, pets, bird watching, and cooking.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Preston Oaks Baptist Church (102 Preston Ave, NE Roanoke, VA).  Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and service at 11:00 am.
