Herschel and I go back to 1968 when I first saw him with Jimmy Martin's band. Since then I can't count how many times our paths crossed but he was always so kind to me and the love we shared in mandolins and mandolin music. About a month before his passing I visited with him and Joyce at their home. We had a great time sitting around picking old mandolin tunes. Here is a photo I took that day.
