Mary Margaret Mays Slaydon, 85, of Roanoke, Va. went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, December 14, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph W. Slaydon, mother, Lennis Lawson and father, John Daniel Deline. Surviving are her children, Phyllis Hodges of Roanoke; Lisa Hanson and husband James of Wilmington, NC; S. Lee Hopkins and wife Lyndia of Hardy, Va.; grandchildren, Robert, Roy Wayne, and Ronnie Hodges; Scott Ferguson, Kristen Ingram, and Amanda Hopkins; numerous great grandchldren, sisters, Betty Yates of Roanoke; Virginia Clark of Boones Mill, Va.; Linda Robertson also of Roanoke; and a brother, Marvin Lawson of Roanoke. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the ALS Association DC/MD/VA Chapter 7507 Standish Place Rockville, Md. 20855. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Mark Washington. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Simpson Funeral Home. 540-366-0707
