Obituary of Marjorie Sowers Goad

Marjorie S. Goad, 89, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, August 25, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband Pete Goad; parents, John and Nova Sowers; brother Gaylon Sowers.

Marjorie was a floral designer at Webber’s florist, a manager at Tomboy’s Grocery Store, and a Cafeteria Worker at Monterey Elementary School. Marjorie was a faithful member of Hollins Road Baptist Church and served as head of food service for many years. She enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

She will be missed and remembered by her children, Lynn (Beth) Goad, Doug Goad, Jerry Goad, Judy Clark (David); eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren;1 great-great-grandchild; and a special care giver Nancy Parker.

Services will be held Monday, August 29, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Road Chapel with Pastor Mark Washington officiating. Interment will follow services at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 28, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home.
