Obituary of Zelda Latosca Williams
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Zelda Latosca Williams of Troutville, Virginia, after a brief illness. Zelda was born in Nashville, TN and grew up in Brooklyn NY. She lived in Uniondale, NY until moving to Virginia in 1990 where she was a member of Troutville Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She is preceded in death by her father, Walter B. Williams Sr. She is survived by her mother, Jimmie Lois Williams; sister, Yolanda Marcel Williams, both of Troutville. Three older brothers, Walter B. Williams Jr. (Shirley) of Brooklyn NY; Daryl W. Williams (Karen) of Massapequa NY; and Reginald J. Williams Sr. (Paulette) of Raleigh, NC. Two younger brothers, Jerry Jones (Taylor) of Salem, VA, and Samuel Jones (Emily) of Virginia Beach, VA, as well as her large extended family from Nashville, Huntsville, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Bermuda.
Zelda was a very special Aunt to her 19 nieces and nephews; and 9 great-nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. We all have special memories of our Aunt Zelda that will never be forgotten.
Zelda was a hair stylist that loved her work and meeting new people. She was always ready to try something new and loved helping her clients step out of their comfort zone for a new look.
Zelda enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting and was especially talented in her embroidery skills, always making gifts for all of the new babies born into the family. When she could, Zelda enjoyed dancing and singing and listening to music of all kinds. She had a beautiful voice that many could hear on Sunday’s when singing in the Kingdom Hall.
Zelda was a good friend to many-always willing to listen to others and give her honest straightforward opinion. She was a great cat Mom to Tyra, Percy, and Grayson. They will miss being spoiled by her.
Most importantly-Zelda’s presence in our family will be greatly missed. She has a special place in all of our hearts. Though our lives are forever changed with her loss, our fond memories will be cherished until we see her again.
We would like to extend a special Thank you to all of the doctors, nurses, and care staff of 10 MTN Palliative Care Unit at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for their advocacy, and compassionate care of our beloved Zelda.
A memorial service celebrating Zelda’s life will be held Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 4 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Road Chapel. 5160 Peters Creek Road Roanoke, Virginia 24019, with Paul J.
