John Lafayette Swanson, 91, of Roanoke County, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022. John was a decorated 21 year Army veteran from 1949-1970, serving in both Korean War and Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothea Swanson; daughter, Karen Swanson-Whitlock (Gene); son, Neil Swanson (Becky); grandchildren, Devyn Hosford (Breck), Matthew Whitlock, Jackson Swanson, Mahre Swanson, and Ranger Swanson; great granddaughter, Alice Hosford; and siblings, Clyde Swanson Jr. and Benjamin Swanson.
A Graveside Service will be held at Sherwood Memorial Park at 12:30 pm on Saturday, July 23, 2022, with entombment in the Masoleum to follow.
