Obituary of John Raymond Hale

John R. Hale, 91, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord Monday, July 4, 2022.  He was preceded by his parents, Frank E. and Ethel Haddon Hale; daughter, Susan Hale Young; son, Wesley Hale; three brothers and a sister.

Mr. Hale was a member of Bonsack Baptist Church and was serving as Chaplain of the East Roanoke Camp of the Gideon’s International.  He retired from General Electric after 45 years of service.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Bettie R. Hale; daughter, Linda Hale (Chad) Woods; six grandsons; four great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins including a special cousin, Harley (Jean) Thorne.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the East Roanoke Camp of the Gideon’s International P O Box 373 Roanoke, VA  24003 or to the music ministry at Bonsack Baptist Church.

A celebration of John's life will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Bonsack Baptist Church 4508 Cloverdale Road Roanoke, VA  24019.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home.  540-366-0707
