Obituary of Charlie Robert Parker, Jr.

Charlie Robert Parker, Jr., 93, of Roanoke, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 25, 2022. Charlie, the son of the late Charlie Robert (Sr.) and Minnie Dunning Parker, was born on a hot, hot day in Roxobel, Bertie County, NC.

Charlie was predeceased by his big brother, J.C (Sally), little brother, Hubert; sisters, Doris (Selton, whom he called Brother) and Lois; nephew, Bill; nieces, June and Connie; his granddaughter, Anna Grace; and his lifelong friend, Mr. J.R. Gregory.

He is survived by his son, Brian (Jennie) Parker; daughter, Renee Parker Cox; grandchildren, Christie (Ross), Adam, Abigail, Charlie III; sister-in-law, Hazel; cousin, Louise; nieces and nephews, Eva Mae, Linda, Yvonne (Jimmy), Al (Martha), Anne, Patty (Gene), Billy (Jen) and Danny (Nancy); and puppy, Abby.

Few words can convey, but God knows the deep sense of loss and sadness we are feeling right now. God is great all the time. We are so grateful Dad was able to spend his last many days surrounded by his Family and Friends.

Charlie is our leading Man who lit up our lives with infinite love and wonder. His smile was reassuring and healing, his hugs the warmest refuge, and his laughter and humor were infectious. Forever live in peace and joy with Jesus Christ. We love you with all our hearts, Dad!

In 1983, Dad retired after 40 years from his passion at High’s Ice Cream. And for the rest of his life, he invested himself in his Parker Investment Properties, LLC.

A Chapel Service will be held at Simpson Funeral Home (3912 Electric Road, Roanoke) on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at 11:00 a. m. The family will receive friends one hour prior from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Good Samaritan, Roanoke Valley.
