Obituary of Erwin Francis Barnes

Erwin Francis Barnes, 94, of Botetourt, passed away, Monday, June 13, 2022. Erwin was a proud Marine veteran who also served and retired after a career in the Army. He served our country with honor through three wars, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.

He grew up on the family farm in Vermont with his parents Nina Cunningham and Jack Barnes; and siblings Josephine, Charles, Mary Gertrude and Jack. He married Patricia May Bronks, all of which preceded him in death.

Erwin is survived by Wife Elsie Barnes; daughter Margaret (Dale) Olsen; son, Dan (Nancy) Barnes; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; stepchildren, Debbie (Skip) Cleveland, Joseph (Dianne) Pizzi, and Michael (Leslie) Pizzi, and grandchildren, where he resided in Daleville Virginia.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home (540)366-0707.
