Obituary of Jackie R. Burks

Jackie Roberta Ratliff Burks 82, of Roanoke Virginia, passed away June 7th, 2022, at home surrounded by family.

Born February 27, 1940, in Grundy, Va. She was the daughter of the late Clyde and Maye Ratliff. She attended Cincinnati Bible Seminary and Milligan College.  She studied music and was a musician all her life. She was a member of the Civil Air Patrol as well as Kiwanis. She was a life long Christian and was a member of the Salam Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 grandsons, TJ Glover and Spencer Mungwira. And a daughter, Normandee Dorr.

She leaves behind her husband, Thomas Burks, a stepson, Michael Burks, son Ramon Sentell, son Richard Queen, daughter Gloria Queen, daughter, Katrinka Sentell, a sister, Kathy Looney, brothers-in-law, Cecil Burks, Kermit Burks, Randall Burks, Larry Burks, grandchildren, Chastity Glover, Noel Rice, Ryan Mungwira, Samantha Mungwira, Ramsey Sentell, Zeb Sentell, Brittany Burks, Michelle Burks and Steve Burks. Great-grandchildren, Tyler Glover, Tobias Arnold, Davion Glover, Dwayne Railey, Lily Ramirez, Reyna Ramirez and Naiyeli Ramirez. One great-great-grandchild, Malachi Glover.

Services will be held at Simpsons Funeral Home Chapel, Electric Road, on Monday, June 13, 2022. Family and friends may attend a viewing at 12 pm, funeral service at 1 pm and graveside procession at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens following service. Service will be lead by, Taylor Plott.
