Obituary of Edgar Ronald Griffin

On Sunday June 5, 2022, at the age of 89, Edgar “Ron” Griffin, of Roanoke, took his place at the side of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born in Washington, D.C. his accomplishments in life were many. He proudly served his country during the Korean War as a paratrooper in the United States Army 11th Airborne Division “The Angels”. He excelled as an architectural draftsman, working on many prestigious projects in both the residential and commercial construction industries throughout his career. An ordained deacon and lover of southern gospel music, he served in many capacities in each church along his life’s journey.

A devoted husband for 66 years, he leaves behind the love of his life, wife Bobbie. The promise of salvation ensures they will be together again one day, and his love for family came second only to his adoration for The King. Surviving in addition to his wife, are his brother, Gerry (Betty) Griffin; five children, Lori (Buddy), Keith (Marcia), Russell (Yvonne), Toni, and Jon (Whitney); 14 grandchildren, Danny (Haley), Megan (Mike), Kathy (Greg), Sara (Scott), Justin (Shannon), Chris, Hannah (Will), Tyler (Alexis), Shelby, Karlie, Chase, Cole, Alyssa and Bailey; and 11 great-grandchildren, Ollie, Dale, Riley, Teagan, Ava, Jack, Landon, Mollie, Owen, Lane and Charlotte.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Bonsack Baptist Church, 4845 Cloverdale Road, Roanoke, VA 24019. Visitation will be held at 10 am. The Service will follow at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron’s memory to H.H.
