Obituary of Linda Stone Kidd
Linda Stone Kidd, age 83, of Roanoke passed away on Saturday June 4, 2022 after a brief illness.
She was born in Cook County, Illinois and was adopted from The Cradle in Cook County as a baby by Isabelle McPheeters and Daniel Elmer Stone. Her maternal grandmother and grandfather were Isabelle McPheeters Stone and William L. McPheeters, Sr.
Linda graduated high school from Hathaway Brown School for Girls, Shaker Heights, Ohio. She attended Brown University, Providence, RI graduating in June 1961, BA History. During her working career she received a Certified Professional Secretary Rating in 1974 by taking a two-day, six part examination.
In May 1967 she married Sotirios Gregory Lallos, and was legally separated in October 1972. In November of1972 "Steve" died in an auto accident in Kansas. On September 28, 1985, she married Robert O. (Bob) Kidd.
Linda was employed at Alcan Aluminum Corporation, Cleveland, Ohio as Executive Secretary from 3/1/1965 to 5/1/1993, choosing to retire when Bob retired at age 60.
Linda's hobbies included exercise class twice a week, a quilting club in which members take turns hosting at their home or via Zoom because of Covid19, costumer jewelry making, trying new cooking recipes and for many years square dancing. She also had a special connection with cats and rescued and cared for them whenever she could. She was especially close to her Siamese cats Friday and Daffy.
She is survived by her brother, David Stone, Sr. (wife Nancy), Peoria, AZ; David's daughter and son by a previous marriage, Lisa Wrenk (husband Lew), Wittmann, AZ and David Stone, Jr. (Partner Christy) Twinsburg, OH, her loving husband Robert Kidd and his daughters, Kathleen "Kathy" Kidd (Partner Danada), Oxford, NH, and Constance "Connie" Kyser (husband Jeff, and son Jarred), East Hampton, CT.
Mrs. Kidd was cremated at her request and at a time to be determined; her cremated remains will be interred at Eglington Cemetery and Memorial Gardens, Clarksboro, New Jersey where she will rest with Bob's parents and siblings.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the Roanoke Valley SPCA 1340 Baldwin Avenue Roanoke, VA 24012.
A memorial service will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road Roanoke, VA by Pastor Troy Mays. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service. Online condolences may be shared by visiting www.simpsonfuneral.com
