Obituary of Colan E. Goad

Colan E. “Pete” Goad, 90, husband of Marjorie Sowers Goad, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. He was the son of the late Dennis Goad and the late Malissa Agee Goad. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Elwood, Leon, Willard; sister, Pauletta.

Pete worked as a truck driver for more than 25 years and then worked in banking for several years. He was a faithful member of Hollins Road Baptist Church and the Joyful Servants Sunday School Class. He enjoyed working with his hands on small engines and he took great pride in maintaining his yard. He loved to bowl and was league player for many years.

In addition to his wife of 70 years he will be missed and remembered by his children, Lynn (Beth) Goad, Doug (Bobbie) Goad, Jerry, Judy (David) Clark; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; special caregiver, Nancy Parker.

A service to honor his life will be held at 1 pm on Friday, May 27, 2022 in the Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Washington officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road.
