Obituary of Abigail Lockhart Williams

Abigail Lockhart Williams, 64, of Roanoke, Virginia departed this life during the early hours of Sunday, May 15th, 2022.

Abigail was born on July 8, 1957 in Louisville, Georgia (Jefferson County) to  her loving parents Verdree Lockhart Sr. and Louise Lockhart. She was a graduate of Frederick Douglass High School in Atlanta, Georgia and received her Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from Georgia State University.

Gail married her “High School Sweetheart” the late Conroy Williams, to this union they had one child Chandler Revee Williams.

She was employed by Orvis until she retired. Gail was a faithful member of the Valley View congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She really enjoyed speaking about the promises of a future paradise and her being present in it.

Gail had an energetic, fun and loving spirit, with a infectious smile. She loved nature, gardening and spending time with her grand-boys Keenan and Kendrick; who called her Gabby. The time she spent with her precious grand-boys filled her heart with so much joy. To know her is to love her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving parents, Verdree Sr. and Louise Lockhart (Atlanta, GA); loving daughter, Chandler Hayden; son-in-law, Kelly Hayden; two precious grandchildren, Keenan and Kendrick Hayden; two brothers, Verdree Lockhart II and Fernandez (Anita) Lockhart, sister Vera Cargile; nephew, Xavier Cargile Sr. and great-nephew, Xavier Cargile II. Gail leaves a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Road Chapel. The family will receive friends before and after the service.
