Obituary of Georgia Hurt Marshall
Georgia Frances Hurt Marshall, 96, of Roanoke, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clewry Edward Marshall, her parents, Fred and Alma Hurt, sister Norma King and longtime friend Bob Layman.
Georgia is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Bonita and Al Woods, Donna and Ray Coffey, Nancy and Carl Stultz; her six grandchildren Jessica Castiglioni (Joe), Jeff Woods (Lindsey), Aaron Stultz (Sarah), Josh Coffey (Marci), Jacob Coffey (Rebecca) and Alison Stultz; her 10 great-grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as “Grandma Geegee”; Lucas and Raza Castiglioni, Lane and Leland Woods, Caleb and Kendall Stultz, Eli Coffey, Carter, Jett and Campbell Coffey.
Georgia Frances was born August 4, 1925 in Floyd, VA. She retired from the Roanoke County School System where she enjoyed working with children with special needs at the Roanoke County Occupational School. She was a longtime member of Peters Creek Church of the Brethren where she enjoyed fellowship and quilting with the Busy Bees. Her other hobbies included baking, camping, crossword puzzles, playing card games, gardening and planting flowers which brought her and others incredible joy.
Her family would like to thank Carilion Clinic Hospice for their wonderful support, love and care of Georgia.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Simpson Funeral Home by Chaplain Seth McCormick. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
