Obituary of Andrea Docie Bruce

Andrea Docie Bruce of Radford, Virginia, passed away while in Chesapeake on March 17, 2022. She was 47.

Born in Norfolk, Virginia, October 1, 1974, she lived most of her life in Virginia Beach. As a young mother she was diagnosed with Lupus and subsequently with kidney disease, requiring years of dialysis as she looked forward to receiving a kidney transplant she never achieved. 

Andrea is survived by her daughter, Kalyn O. Gillespie and husband Nathaniel, of Fairlawn, and her three grandchildren, Marley Wasson, and Elijah and Willow Gillespie; her parents, Charles Randolph and Carolyn Hale Bruce, and siblings Victoria Helen Phelps (Bobby), Charles Randolph Bruce, III, (Tammy) and Ian Alexander Bruce (Amber).  

Andrea was interred in Evergreen Cemetery in Roanoke on Friday, March 25, in a small family ceremony conducted by Simpson Funeral Home and Crematory.
