Obituary of James William Clendenen, Sr.

James William Clendenen, Sr., 82, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 3, 2022.

James served his country in the United States Marine Corps as well as in the United States Air Force. After his military service he worked as an engineer for Norfolk Southern for 34 years. He was also a member of Green Ridge Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years Elizabeth Jane Clendenen. He is survived by his son James Clendenen Jr, wife Elizabeth, daughter Brenda Reynolds, husband Greg Welker, daughter Jennifer Campbell, husband Scott, grandchildren Michael, Kathryn and Heather Clendenen, Ashley, Heather, Joshua and Sydney Welker, Evan and Luke Campbell and 12 great grandchildren.

The family will honor James’s wishes and not have any public services. Entombment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home. (540)366-0707.
