I just saw this on Feb 25 and am so very sorry. Jimmy (and Sallie) was/were such a great friend(s) to my parents, Ralph and Mary K, as well as to my uncle G. B. (and Peggy). I heard about him all my life and I know it hurt him when they all died before him. Mom and Dad always were happy to see Jimmy and Sallie stop by the house. Jimmy once hosted my dad in Salem to see the Lippizaner Stallions, as he knew of Dad’s love of horses. A few years ago, likely after my mom died, I had a wonderful and long phone conversation with Jimmy. He told me stories of Fries and family and all sorts of great things. The Vaughans will always be fond of him. May he rest in peace. And to the Webb family, I pray with the Apostle Paul that the God of all comfort be especially close with you at this time as only He is able (II Cor. 1:3).

Mr. Webb was a wonderful man and neighbor. We so enjoyed getting to chat with him on the many occasions that he would be outside mowing his lawn. He will be very missed! Prayers and comfort to the family. -Erin and Michael Stover.

Jim was a good friend. I use to visit him and Sally in Roanoke and we had some great times. And he provided a lot of pictures to the Fries High School Website. R.I.P. my friend......

Jim and I had shared a long life of connection, though he was fourteen when I was born. I remember him as the teenager running in and out of the house when we visited there. I really didn't see much of him until he and Sally were married. Soon there were three little girls. Over the next decades, we only seemed to cross paths at family funerals, of which there seemed far too many. In 2014, I began commuting to Roanoke as Interim Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, and Jim and Sally and I began going out to their favorite seafood restaurant. It was a privilege to renew our connections as the last two living grandchildren of Phillip Marion Webb and Virginia Vincent Webb. Rest-in-peace!

Jim and Sally were friends and neighbors to Beth and I for many years.
Whenever there was someone in need, you could always count on Jim to be there to do what he could.
He and I tackled many small projects together, from gardening, to boats, to the countless mechanical
conundrums he knew so much about. This old know-it-all learned a lot from him.
We spent many hours on his porch discussing everything, and nothing...
They say you are never really gone until you are forgotten. That's going take awhile.
My sincere condolences to Margaret, Tammy and Zach.
Rest in peace, old friend, Sally is waiting for you with a warm piece of rhubarb pie.

There are lots of funny stories attached to this man! He and my Dad were the best of friends, often helping each other work on cars and going "Moosing". I believe Daddy's empty chair at the poker table is now full. Love you Jim!
