Obituary of Linda Jackson Doss

Linda Jackson Doss, 92, died peacefully at JC Thomas Center in Salem, VA on Friday, February 11, 2022.  She was preceded in death by her parents Hoke and Ila Jackson, brother Julian Jackson and wife Anita.

Surviving are three children Sue Porterfield, Roanoke, VA, Donna Doss, Salem, VA and Richard Doss (Lisa) of Vinton, VA.  Grandchildren include Dr. Todd Walls (Dr. Carrie Dixon) of Wilmington, NC, Kevin (Kristin) Porterfield of Lynchburg, VA, Justin (Robin) Porterfield of Leesburg, VA, Chris Hornby of Roanoke, VA, Matthew (Sarah) Doss, Zachary (Brittni) Doss, and Sarah Nicole Doss, all of Vinton, VA.  Great grandchildren include Morgan Walls, Cam, Cullen, and Lila Porterfield, Princeton, Greyson, and Royce Porterfield, Jackson and David Doss, and Emma Doss due in March.  Also surviving brother-in-law Dean Doss of Virginia Beach, VA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Linda graduated from William Fleming HS and retired from General Electric. She loved the beach but her first love was family.  She devoted her entire life to family and for more than 60 years attended the ball games and events of all the children.  Her door was always open and was called Mom or Grandma by everyone.

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Richfield JC Thomas Center and Good Samaritan Hospice for all the care and compassion shown her.  

Funeral services will be held at Simpson Funeral Home, Peters Creek Rd., Roanoke, VA on Saturday, February 19th at Noon with Rev. Doug Sasser officiating,  with visitation one hour prior to service.  Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the American Alzheimer's Association, https://www.alz.org/
