Stewart Gregory Brown, Sr. of Roanoke, VA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 27, 2022.  His wife, son and daughter were by his side.  He loved the Lord and was always singing and whistling gospel.  He was a very positive and cheerful man, mostly always smiling.  He loved calmness and quietness and to work in his yard.

Stewart had a deep love for his wife, children, and family.  He worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for 30 years before retiring in 2019.  He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys Brown Hancock and Albert C. Brown, Sr.; brothers, Lamont and Napoleon Brown; sister, Katrina Coles; and a daughter, Donshae Hairston.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sandra Brown; children, Stewart Gregory Brown, Jr. of Roanoke; Chantal Brown of Pittsburgh, PA, Brittany Brown of Roanoke, Davon Wood of Ashburn, VA,  Jessica (Terry) Jones, and Monica Slade both of Roanoke; sister, Deloris English Biggs of Roanoke; brothers, Albert "Jaycee" (Cynthia) Brown, Jr., and Nathan (Stacy) Brown of Forest; grandchildren, Jamari Wilson of Richmond, VA, Jaden and Josiah Brown, Terry, Jr., Diamond and Alana Jones, Avantae and Sade' Slade, Amorera Mundia, Nasir Brown and Nevaeh Jones and two great granddaughters, Skylah Cooper of Roanoke and Raelyn McGhee of Richmond; niece, Tina (Rene) English Bullock; nephew, Edward "ET" Brown, Denzel Coles, Toure (Charisma) Brown all of Roanoke; Tonia (Saba) Brown of Plano, Texas; Nicole Brown of Oakland, California; Brittany Wilson of Washington, DC; brothers-in-law, Larry Coles, Kevin Swain; sisters-in-law, Cynthia (Joe) Burch, Gwendolyn Hairston, Linda (Fred) Nelms, Janet (Cecil) Gates, Dawn Swain, Josephine (Wayne) Burch Sharon Garner all of Roanoke; Teresa Swain of Virginia Beach, Venus Swain of Portsmouth; and Brenda Swain of Jacksonville, FL; special neighbors and friends, Richie Rodgers and Sandy and a host of other relatives and friends.

We will miss you so very much and are blessed to have the memories that we do.  We are forever grateful for who you were to each one of us.  We love you, your family and friends.  (THE PEACEMAKER)

A very special  thanks to the staff at Roanoke Memorial Hospital for their exceptional care and many prayers.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Pastor Michael Anderson and Bishop Frank English. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home.  (540)366-0707
