Obituary of Nyna Slayton Murray

Nyna Slayton Murray, 89, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 5, 2022.  She was preceded by her parents, Larnie and Arlene Johnson Slayton; husband, Alfred M. "Buck" Murray; brother and sister-in-law, Reginald and Sara Slayton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law,  Bobby and Gerry Murray and daughter-in-law, Kelly Murray.

Nyna was a graduate of William Fleming High School.  She was employed by Double Envelope for ten years and retired after 21 years of service with the Farmers Home Administration.

Surviving are her sons, Donny (Carol) Murray and Mike (Joy) Murray; grandchildren, Chris (Kent) Murray, Sonya (Shawn) Davis, Holly (Garrett) Chappell, Daniel (Danielle) Murray, Adam (Romona) Murray and Kayla Murray; and nine great grandchildren.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at the Hermitage Roanoke and the staff at Good Samaritan Hospice for the loving care provided Nyna.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the Samaritan Fund C/O The Hermitage Roanoke 1009 Old Country Club Road Roanoke, VA  24017.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 am Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.  Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday at Simpson Funeral Home.
