Obituary of Jean S Parker
Pamela “Jean” Smith Parker, 90, of Blue Ridge, VA, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Friday, December 31, 2021.
Jean was born July 29, 1931 in Gainesville, GA to the late Paul H. Smith and Pearl Ledford Smith. Jean was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother known as Mama Jean. She lovingly served her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and would spend many hours reading her bible and praying for family, friends and for people all around the world. She served at her church for many years in many different areas of ministry. She was a member of New Life Christian Ministries for 55 years.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Paul H. and Pearl L. Smith; two sisters, Pat Little and Hilda O’Kelley; son, Greg Parker; grandson, Joseph Webb.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of nearly 70 years, James W. Parker; daughter-in-law, Teresa Parker of N.C.; sons, Scott Parker of Blue Ridge, VA, David Parker (Sally) of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughter, Pam Webb (David) of Troutville, VA; grandchildren, Ben Parker, Loren Parker, Krista Westbury (Mitch), Amanda Burnette (Dustin), Jenny Pressley (Chad), Aaron Parker (Jessica), Jacob Parker, Rachel Parker and Nicholas Webb; great-grandchildren, Ainsley, Paxton and Becket Burnette, Addie and Kami Pressley, James and Eva Westbury, and Colt Parker.
A service to celebrate Jean’s life will be held at 1 pm on Friday, January 7, 2022 at New Life Christian Ministries with Rev. Walter Wood and Rev. Tony Atkinson officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 11 am to 1 pm at the church.
