Rodney L. Conner, 51, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Friday, December 9, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maynard O and Elizabeth Hurst Conner. Rodney was an avid outdoorsman with a special love of animals of all kinds. Surviving are his sister, Deborah Lovelace and husband Phillip of Gretna; brothers, James "Jim" Conner and wife Nancy of Salem; Samuel Conner and Remona of Coeburn; Perry Conner and wife Valerie of Roanoke; and a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorials be made to Berkshire Health Care Center 705 Clearview Drive Vinton, Virginia 24179. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory. 366-0707
