Obituary of Shawn Alan Smith

Shawn A. Smith, 52, of Roanoke passed away Friday, November 26, 2021.

Shawn was employed by U S Foods and proudly served in the U S Marine Corps during Desert Storm.  He was an avid outdoors man  with a special love of fishing and working in his garden.

Surviving are his wife, Lisa Smith; son, Mitchell Smith; and two young men who considered Shawn as a dad, Corey Besase and Drew Sturgill; father, James A. (Barbara) Smith; mother, Penny (Dave) Lopez; sisters, Christy L. Chavez of Hobart, IN and Jamie L. Socci of Hebron, IN.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the SPCA 1340 Baldwin Street Roanoke, VA  24012.

A celebration of Shawn's life will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.  The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.  A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 am on Monday, December 20, 2021 in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery.
