Obituary of Frederick W. Goodpasture

Frederick W. “Fred” Goodpasture, 87, widower of Patricia “Pat” Goodpasture, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 22, 2021. He was born in Marion, VA and was the son of the late Milton and Augusta Crowe Goodpasture. He was also preceded in death by a step-son, Kerry Bailey; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Maurice Cullop; brother-in-law, George Akers.

He was a member of Clearbrook Baptist Church, a veteran of the United States Air Force, a former employee of Eaton Corporation and later worked as a courier.

He will be missed and remembered by a step-son, Timmy Wayne Bailey (Jamie); step-grandchildren, Jason W. Bailey, Nicole A. Bailey-Bedsaul (Michael), Kristy Bailey; step-great-grandchildren, Brandie Grey and Harper Bedsaul; former daughters-in-law, Deborah Bailey, Robin Bailey; Siblings, Milton W. Goodpasture, Jr. (Barbara) of Randleman, NC and Shirley G. Akers of Cary, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 2021 in the Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Rd., with Rev, Bryan Ratliff officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made to Clearbrook Baptist Church Mission Fund, 5219 Singing Hills Road, Roanoke, VA 24014.
